Natural gas energy stood the highest consumption in Malaysia compared to other energy sources. However, the natural gas output is of low quality due to the presence of free water. Free water in a few thousand parts per million (ppm) exceeds the specified range of 126-168 ppm. Free water is also associated with the hydrate formation, excessive pressure drops and corrosion. Supersonic separation is the latest technology being developed to address those issues. A new supersonic compact wet-gas separator has been developed using a non-rotating slot type swirl generator with an enhanced nozzle throat diameter. These lead to better separation and hydrodynamics performance. The book provides insight into the design and development of the supersonic separator, including analytical, experimental and simulation.
